A total of 12 six-to-eight-week adult male C57BL/6J mice (18–22 g) were purchased from the Shanghai Model Organisms Center, Inc. and housed in a specific-pathogen-free facility under a light/dark cycle of 12 h/12 h, with access to food and water ad libitum. The mice were housed at a density of five mice per cage to ensure adequate space for activity and optimal housing conditions. No mice were excluded from the analysis.

AbstractAryl thianthrenium salts are valuable in photocatalysis but traditionally require external electron donors for activation. This study introduces an energy transfer (EnT) strategy for the activation of aryl thianthrenium salts using 2,3,4,5,6-penta(carbazol-9-yl)benzonitrile (5CzBN) as a metal-free photocatalyst, eliminating the need for external donors.

Elemental white phosphorous (P4) is a crucial feedstock for the entire phosphorus-derived chemical industry, serving as a common precursor for the ultimate preparation of high-grade monophosphorus (P1) fine chemicals. Whereas the corresponding manufacturing processes generally suffer from a deep reliance on hazardous reagents, inputs of immense energy, emissions of toxic pollutants, and the generation of substantial waste, which in turn contributes to negative impacts on the environment.
