1. IntroductionCitrobacter is a facultative anaerobic Gram-negative bacteria, which exists widely in nature, such as water, soil and food. Today C. freundii is regarded as an important nosocomial pathogen and is frequently found in patients’ blood, urine, soft tissues, and wounds (Khorasani et al., 2008; Kumar et al., 2013). In some extensive observational studies, Citrobacter accounted for approximately 3–6% of Enterobacteriaceae isolates in clinical settings (Mohanty et al., 2007).

Regression models constructionThe binding energy decomposition for the set of mutant enzyme/substrate pairs led to a matrix with dimensions N x M (the number of observations where each observation denotes the relative ability to hydrolyze a specific bile acid by a chosen mutant enzyme vs a number of amino acids in a tetramer), where each cell i, j content represents the interaction energy between j amino acid of i mutant and the substrate.
