1 INTRODUCTION Biopolymer films stem from renewable natural sources and are commonly non-toxic materials. These films offer a protective layer for food, presenting some resistance to physical damage and serving as a shield against oxygen and moisture.1 They contribute to achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) by reducing plastic pollution and enhancing sustainability in producing and consuming goods and services (SDG12).
