Everyone Active on behalf of Bristol City Council, are working in partnership with Level Water to run the scheme – a national charity dedicated to increasing opportunities for disabled children to learn to swim.

    Bristol and surrounding areas saw one of the highest rates of knife crime in the country over the past five years. But Avon & Somerset Police have reported a 54 per cent reduction in street-based knife crime in the past six months. The region reported the fifth-highest rate of serious knife crimes in England, at 9.46 incidents per 10,000 people over the last five years, according to an analysis of the national ONS data.

    Two NHS Trusts across Bristol have paid out a combined total of £1.8 million in damages for gynaecology medical negligence claims lodged against them in the past five years, a new investigation has revealed. But the number of claims are much lower than other trusts across the country with Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust being the worst, having paid out over £6 million in damages.

    A Bristol charity has launched a Christmas raffle to raise funds for young people experiencing food insecurity. The MAZI Project hopes to raise £6,000, with all proceeds going towards supporting care leavers, young asylum seekers and youths overcoming homelessness. The funds raised from the sale of their raffle tickets will be used to provide over 2,000 nourishing meals and 380 meal kits for disadvantaged young people across Bristol.

    Homeless households including families continue to be placed in costly hotel accommodation in Bristol. Bristol City Council has said that using hotels as temporary accommodation is a ‘last resort’ but continues to rely on them due to the high levels of homelessness nationally. 'Abigail', who did not want to give her real name, moved out of a hotel with her son this week and said that she was one of eight families staying in that particular hotel.
