As the popularity of electric bikes grows, so does the legal and trade obstacles here and abroad. In 2022, over a million e-bikes were in sold in the US. China is a large part of the bike supply chain as about 85 percent of bikes purchased in the US are manufactured in China, and many bike manufacturers rely on China for most, if not all, of their components. And while this figure is staggering, many overlook details regarding the most important component for e-bikes, the battery.

AbstractUsing body heat for instance, thermoelectric generators have promising applications for driving wearable electronics continuously but remain a challenge in terms of recoverable flexibility, as known highly-performing thermoelectrics are usually inorganics showing rigidity. It is conceptualized in this work a large elastic strain ensuring both a largely-curved recoverable bending and a full recoverability in thermoelectric performance after enormous bendings.

AbstractIn the 1850s, Lord Kelvin predicted the existence of a thermoelectric cooling effect inside a whole material (the Thomson effect) according to thermodynamics1, in addition to the Peltier effect that enables cooling at the junction between dissimilar materials.

A neural network (NN)-based electrical dispersion pre-compensation (pre-EDC) scheme in intensity-modulation and direct-detection (IM/DD) systems is proposed and experimentally demonstrated in this Letter. The scheme enables 56 Gbit/s four-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM-4) generation at a transmitter over an 80 km single-mode fiber (SMF) transmission in the C-band.
