    Joseph DiFiore, a World War II veteran, celebrated his 100th birthday at the American House Senior Living Community in Fort Myers, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow veterans. DiFiore, the oldest male resident at the community, has a century's worth of memories, stories, and knowledge. Reflecting on his age, he said, "How old am I? She wants me to tell you 100.""That's me, sitting here on this couch," DiFiore said, pointing to a photo.

    Fire crews in San Carlos Park are working to put out a fire at a home along Devore Lane. Crews responded to the fire around 3 a.m. Saturday and spent much of the morning working to contain the blaze. Four adults were inside the home when it caught fire and were able to get out safely. San Carlos Park fire officials tell Gulf Coast News that the fire started in the garage but spread to the attic. There is no word on what caused it. The home is deemed a total loss.
