    The Boys State Golf Meet concluded yesterday with a pair of Cedar Valley teams claiming titlesIn the Class 3A meet at Pheasant Ridge in Cedar Falls, Waverly-Shell Rock and M-O-C-Floyd Valley both finished 12-over and team scores of 588. However, the Go-Hawks won on a criteria, to win the 3A championship. In the 2A meet at Gates Park in Waterloo, Waterloo Columbus led from start to finish as they took first place. The Sailors finished 24-over,14-strokes better than second place Grundy Center.

    It was another overtime thriller in Muskegon, between the Waterloo Black Hawks and Muskegon Lumberjacks Saturday night in Game 4 of the Clark Cup Finals. This time, though, the Black Hawks came out on top, 3-2. The Hawks were able to build a 2-0 lead with less than 2 minutes in regulation of the third period. But the Lumberjacks were able to get two quick goals back and tie the game to send it into the overtime frame.

    At Trinity Health Arena in Muskegon, Michigan, the Waterloo Black Hawks fell in double overtime in game 3 of the Clark Cup Finals as the Muskegon Lumberjacks won 2-1 to take a two games to one lead in the best-of-five series. Lumberjack Ivan Ryabkin broke the 1-1 tie in the second overtime frame with an unassisted goal and secured the win. The Black Hawks now find themselves in a must-win situation for game 4 on Saturday night.

    Yesterday in Girls Golf, the final round of the Metro Meet was held at Irv Warren. Cedar Falls won the meet with a team score of 160. Waterloo West was second with a 171. Waterloo Columbus finished 3rd and Waterloo East 4th. The Tigers won all three rounds of the Metro Meet and won the event for the 17th consecutive year. Individually, Waterloo West’s Bree Stegal defeated Cedar Falls Molly Ratchford in a playoff to win the individual title.

    Berths into the State Track and Field Meet are up for grabs today as State Qualifying Meets will take place in all four classes. State qualifying meets are coed and set to begin this afternoon at 4. Qualifiers advance to the Iowa High School State Track & Field Championships next week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Here’s where the Metro teams will be at today:Cedar Falls, Waterloo West and Waterloo East will all be at the 4A Qualifying Meet at Mason City.
