The schedule for the Waterloo Black Hawks USHL Western Conference Semifinal playoff series against Sioux Falls has been released. The series is a best three out of five. The first two games of the series will take place in Sioux Falls. Game One is Friday night with the opening face-off at 7:05, and Game-2 is Saturday evening with game time at 6:05. Game-3 will be Monday night at Young Arena in Waterloo with action starting at 6:35.

The Waterloo Black Hawks are moving on in the USHL’s Clark Cup Playoffs. Last night the Black Hawks defeated Tri-City 7-3 to complete a two-game sweep over the Storm in their best-two-out-of-three First Round Playoff match-up. Waterloo led 4-3 going into the 3rd period. The Black Hawks were 3-for-4 on the power playKaeden Hawkins scored a pair of goals for the Hawks, who had 40-shots on goal. Waterloo moves on to the Western Conference Semifinals.

Yesterday in High School Soccer involving Metro schools: In Boys matches: Linn-Mar edged Waterloo West 2-1 and Waterloo East downed Belmond-Klemme 3-2. And in Girls games: 3A 14th ranked Cedar Falls beat Mason City 3-0 and Linn-Mar hammered Waterloo West 17-0.

The Waterloo Black Hawks will open up Clark Cup Playoff action tonight. The Hawks will host Tri-City in game-one of a best-of-three-series. The Black Hawks finished third in the USHL Western Conference with a 34-18-10 record and 78 points. The Storm was sixth, with a 29-29-4 mark and 62-points. Game time tonight is at 6:35. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has released their latest Soccer rankings. Area teams in the polls:In 3A, Cedar Falls enters the rankings as is 14th. In 2A, Waverly-Shell Rock continues to be ranked number-one. And in 1A, Denver is again the top-ranked school, while Dike-New Hartford is 8th and Hudson is 10th.
