    One person has been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking investigation in Saint John. The Saint John Police Force said the person was arrested without incident on Tuesday. Officers seized fentanyl, crack cocaine, more than $8,200 in cash, digital scales, a collapsible baton, a fixed blade knife and a cell phone.

    A man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a drive-thru in east Saint John. Police said the incident happened in the McAllister Drive area at around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Investigators said the suspect approached a vehicle at a local drive-thru and tried to get inside. “The suspect then assaulted a male in the parking lot and made further attempts to enter other vehicles,” police said in a news release.

    A fisherman has been rescued after falling into the Nerepis River in Welsford, according to fire officials. First responders were dispatched to a water rescue near the Quality Aggregates gravel pit shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday. “Thankfully, the individual managed to reach higher ground on the rocks in the middle of the river to await help,” the Welsford Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

    The new chief of the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force is officially on the job. Mike Young took over the force’s top role just over two weeks ago on March 24. He succeeds Steve Gourdeau, who retired after nearly 3.5 years as chief. “Chief Gordeau has done a fabulous job,” Young said during a quarterly update to Quispamsis council this week.
