Addictive Behaviors
Addictive Behaviors is a well-respected international journal that has been publishing high-quality research on addictive behaviors and disorders since 1975. We invite submissions of both full-length articles and brief communications focusing on substance addictions, including alcohol, drugs, and nicotine, as well as behavioral addictions related to gambling and technology. Our journal mainly features studies in behavioral and psychosocial research, but we also explore areas such as psychology, sociology, psychiatry, epidemiology, social policy, medicine, pharmacology, and neuroscience. While we accept a variety of theoretical perspectives, our primary focus is on empirical research, which requires solid experimental design along with valid and reliable assessment methods to be considered for publication. We also welcome innovative case studies that offer new insights into the field. Studies that enhance understanding of the causes, prevention, social policies, or treatment of addictive behaviors are prioritized. We encourage scholarly commentaries on relevant topics, as well as systematic and mini reviews. Additionally, we are particularly interested in multimedia submissions that use video or audio to effectively present research methods or findings.

High-salinity industrial wastewater (e.g., from pickling, pharmaceuticals, and chemical industries) poses significant challenges to conventional activated sludge processes (Tan et al., 2019) due to its osmotic stress on microbial cells, leading to inhibited metabolic activity, cell lysis, and poor nitrogen removal efficiency (Kartal et al., 2006; Khatibi, 2019; Zhu et al., 2015).

Transportation is responsible for more than 25% of worldwide carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from fossil fuel in internal combustion engine vehicles (Girod et al., 2013). Transportation is one of the main sectors where emissions are growing up. More than half of all transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions are attributed to road transport section (McCollum et al., 2018).

The theoretical framework of ‘investment under uncertainty’ has highlighted the properties of irreversibility as one of the major drivers of capital investment decisions (Bernanke, 1983, Dixit and Pindyck, 1994). Bernanke’s (1983) ‘bad-news’ principle posits that long-term capital investment projects are characterized by some degree of irreversibility, hence, an increase in economic uncertainty can cause a delay in capital investment.
