The Phoenix Suns recently sacked head coach Mike Budenholzer after he spent just one season with the team. Budenholzer is a championship coach, as he helped the Milwaukee Bucks win the 2021 NBA title, but Phoenix finished the 2024-25 season with a subpar 36-46 record and did not qualify for the playoffs. Some leaks have come out since the firing, and one of them involves Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday.

The NBA has long operated on an 82-game regular-season schedule for each team, as the league first adopted the format in the 1967-68 season. But Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is a proponent of shortening the 82-game slate to just 65 contests, based on some of his past comments. Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic had quite a memorable return to American Airlines Center in Wednesday’s bout against the Dallas Mavericks. Doncic had to wipe away tears when the Mavericks played a video tribute for him prior to the contest, but he didn’t let all of his emotions negatively impact his play in the contest. The Slovenian went off for a game-high 45 points and shot 16-of-28from the field, 7-of-10 from 3-point range and 6-of-9 from the charity stripe.
