You probably didn’t foresee this one. The Philadelphia 76ers somehow managed to get spun together with some narratives in the playoffs despite them not having any sort of an active participation therein. Thanks to a notably disappointing season, the Philadelphia 76ers are relegated to spectator duty in the thick of the action-packed 2025 NBA Playoffs. Only eight teams remain in the tight race for the rights to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy in June, and just like in previous years, the postseason has become wildly unpredictable. Philly has its sights set on the upcoming offseason which, for them, will be kicked off by the draft lottery.

With the 2025 NBA Playoffs already featuring a slew of contests that will end up being classics, even teams booted out of the postseason like the Philadelphia 76ers cannot afford to simply let the action fly past them. The remaining teams all tout players who could be plenty attractive for prospective buyers, and they are definitely one of them. As said multiple times before, it will be imperative for the 76ers to exhibit more resourcefulness this time around.

Time for the 76ers to cast aside their old ways. In keeping with the disaster that struck the Philadelphia 76ers this season, the franchise is now operating with pretty slim margin of error. Their current footing as a ball club is far from enviable, and at this juncture, the front office has no other choice but to implement several changes to the roster if they want to construct a team with an actual shot at being relevant next season.

As this season pretty much proved, the franchise is clinging onto a defective nucleus, while their future remains a dicey proposition as most of their assets are dependent on things that are out of their control. This year’s draft pick will probably serve as their most valuable asset to improve the roster, yet that is also far from a safe bet.
