    By Miranda Chant Area residents can once again enjoy a bonfire in the backyard. London, Middlesex County, and Elgin County have all ended temporary outdoor burn bans. The restrictions had been in place since June 5 due to a lack of wet weather that had made conditions extremely dry. In the city and Middlesex, large outdoor fires were prohibited but small recreational fires were still allowed.

    By Miranda Chant Provincial police seized cocaine, fentanyl, and a rifle during a raid at a Delhi home early Wednesday. Officers with the Haldimand and Norfolk street crime unit, emergency response team, and the tactics and rescue unit searched a home on Bell street just before 4 a.m. Inside they found an undisclosed quantity of the two illicit drugs along with a rifle, a replica handgun, ammunition, other prohibited weapons and drug paraphernalia.

    By Josh Boyce Human remains retrieved from the St. Clair River have been identified as a 41-year-old Sarnia man who was reported missing last November. Lambton OPP pulled a body from the water, between Mooretown and Courtright, on the afternoon of Thursday, June 15. The OPP, along with the Sarnia Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Division, have identified the remains as those of Trevor William Morley-Wood. A cause of death has not been released.

    By Josh Boyce Sarnia police have arrested three suspects, and are searching for another, after a violent home invasion on Devine Street. Officers were called to a home just west of Indian Road South at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14. It’s alleged four men broke into the residence and assaulted some of the occupants, in what’s being called a ‘targeted attack’. One victim was transported to Bluewater Health by Lambton EMS for medical attention.

    By Janice MacKay Perth County residents can now borrow a free PC Connect fare pass from their local library. The County of Perth and the Perth County Information Network launched the new program this week. It will be available at all Perth County libraries including branches in Listowel, Atwood, Monkton, Milverton, Mitchell, Stratford and St. Marys. Residents can borrow a pass for up to four days to get anywhere along all five PC Connect routes.
