Bonhams Magazine
Bonhams is a privately held global auction house and ranks among the oldest and largest auctioneers specializing in fine art and antiques. It was established in November 2001 through the merger of Bonhams & Brooks and Phillips Son & Neale, combining two of London's four remaining Georgian auction houses. Bonhams was founded in 1793, while Phillips was started in 1796 by Harry Phillips, who was previously a senior clerk at James Christie. Currently, the merged entity conducts auctions for art and antiques. Bonhams has two main auction locations in London: the former Phillips sale room at 101 New Bond Street and the original Bonhams sale room at the Montpelier Galleries in Knightsbridge. Additionally, there is a smaller auction venue in Edinburgh. The company also hosts sales in various international cities, including New York, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Paris, San Francisco, Sydney, and Singapore. Bonhams organizes over 280 sales each year across more than 60 categories, such as Asian art, paintings, classic cars, and jewelry. The company employs more than 550 staff members, including some of the top experts in the field.
