London – The 14th Dalai Lama (Tenzin Gyatso) was enthroned in Lhasa, Tibet on 22 February 1940. He was aged four. Among those present was Sir Basil Gould (1883-1956), the Political Officer for Sikkim, Bhutan and Tibet who was appointed to represent the British government. On the 85th anniversary of the Dalai Lama's enthronement, Bonhams announces the sale of the Collection and Archive of Sir Basil Gould on 4 June 2025 at Bonhams New Bond Street.

Paris – A highly important c.13th-century Ge Mallow-Shaped Brush Washer belonging to the celebrated jewellery designer Elsa Peretti (1940-2021) will star in Profound Beauty: The Elsa Peretti Brush Washer, a single-lot sale at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris on 11 June 2025. It is offered with an estimate of €1.2-1.5m. The rare brush washer will be on view at Bonhams in New York from 12-17 March 2025, followed by previews in Hong Kong in April and Paris from 6-10 June.

London – Works by William Kentridge, Irma Stern, Ben Enwonwu and Marlene Dumas attracted strong bidding in the Modern and Contemporary African Art sale in London on 16 October 2024, with the 76-lot sale achieving £2,439,400. • The top lots were Zululand by Irma Stern (1894-1966) which made £508,400 (estimate 400,000 – 600,000) • Monument I by William Kentridge, made £483,000 against an estimate of £200,000 - 300,000.
