Invest Northwest Publishing Ltd. (INWP) was established in 2004 with the launch of Business Vancouver Island, a monthly newspaper dedicated to covering local business news from the Malahat to Port Hardy and all the places in between, headquartered in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Publishers Mark and Lise MacDonald had the opportunity to buy the Business Examiner, where Mark had been employed since 1990. However, when that deal fell through, they decided to create their own publication.
