The Alberni Valley Pride Society has planned a week of entertainment for this year's Pride Week, which runs from Sunday, June 1 to Saturday, June 7. Events kick off with a car wash by donation on Sunday, June 1 at the 7-Eleven on Redford Street and 10th Avenue between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, June 2 is all about fitness, as Alberni Fitness will host a queer-inspired spin class with entry by donation.

The Nanaimo's sign's rainbow-coloured 'O' will be re-imagined with different artwork. The popular tourist photo-op attraction at Sway' A' Lana Lagoon at Maffeo Sutton Park won't sport its 15 bands of colour for much longer, as city council, at a meeting Monday, May 26, voted to commission a new design for the 'O' and look into an annual public call for artists to re-design the letter. The sign was vandalized last month and city staff reported only "moderate success" removing the vandalism.

Austin Lloyd, who was first reported missing from Northern Vancouver Island on April 24, has sadly been located deceased. The Port Hardy RCMP are currently investigating to determine the cause of his death. "If anyone has information regarding Mr. Lloyd’s activities prior to his death they are asked to contact the Port Hardy at 250-949-6335," stated the RCMP in a news release.
