CGTN America

CGTN America serves as the U.S. branch of CGTN, which is a network of international news channels operated by China Media Group. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., it oversees news bureaus throughout North and South America. The network features a diverse team of journalists from the United States, as well as international and Chinese reporters, creating programming that highlights Asia from an American perspective. Each day, CGTN America airs a specific lineup of shows from noon to 7 p.m. MST (7 p.m. to 2 a.m. GMT) and, like its counterpart in Africa, broadcasts CGTN International during other hours. The organization is directed by Ma Jing, with seasoned Asia journalist Jim Laurie serving as the executive consultant. CGTN America officially launched on February 6, 2012, taking over from the previous English-language channel, CCTV 9, in the area.
