Heavy discounting aimed at clearing stock has paid off for Sonos, which is under new management, with the business reporting that revenues rose nearly 3% from a year earlier to around US$260 million in the last quarter. Interim CEO Tom Conrad who wants the top job at Sonos has moved quickly to restructure the struggling business whose share are still down 42% following a disastrous app launch by previous management.

Last week they were teasing a new Lumix camera, days later the Japanese Company announced the axing of 10,000 employees worldwide. The Company that is well known for their appliances, microwaves, air conditioning and health and beauty products is among several Asian businesses that are restructuring their operations. 50% of the cuts will come from overseas subsidiaries however it’s not known whether any of those cuts will affect the Australian operation.

Motorola is bringing its Edge 60 series to Australia next week with three new models, as confirmed by Motorola’s PR team to Channel News. Starting at A$499, the Edge 60 features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth visuals and decent brightness for everyday use. It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chip, paired with 12GB of RAM, which should handle most typical apps and tasks without issue.

Apple is asking a US court to freeze recent changes to its App Store rules while it appeals a landmark ruling that found it in contempt of a 2021 injunction stemming from its long-running legal battle with Epic Games. The tech giant filed a motion this week arguing that complying with the new requirements, which prevent Apple from collecting up to 27% commission on purchases made outside the App Store, could cause “grave irreparable harm”.

LG Electronics management appear to believe that they are better marketers than retailers, with the Company who is moving to sell direct soliciting retailers in Australia, to take over marketing for LG products as opposed to providing marketing funds directly to retailers. ChannelNews has been told that one major retailer of LG TVs, and appliances flatly rejected the Companies marketing proposition.
