Coming off its first postseason appearance since 2017, Woodstock and third-year coach Dan Devine look to make it two straight. The Wolverines finished 7-4 overall in 2024, rebounding from a 2-8 record in Devine's first year and back-to-back winless seasons in 2021-22. Reinhardt alum Brett Allen has signed with the Savannah Bananas’ developmental team called The Visitors, following a successful collegiate baseball career in Waleska. Allen, a right-handed pitcher from Newcastle, Australia, joins the Bananas system, which travels the country playing their style of baseball, coined “Banana Ball.” The Visitors serve similarly to a minor league team for the Savannah Bananas, though the teams do match up throughout the season.

Dozens of people gathered Saturday on Riverstone Parkway in Canton to rally in support of the local immigrant community, particulary for Canton's Sunnyside neighborhood. The rally, organized by Cherokee County Democrats, had just over 100 in attendance, organizers said. The event came in response to a reported raid by federal immigration enforcement authorities in Sunnyside earlier this month.

The summer got a little cooler after Etowah River Tubing opened in Canton. Located at The Mill on Etowah at 225 Reformation Parkway in Canton, the tubing rental company opened May 24, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. The company is run by Romy and Jennie Lakip, who also own and operate Chattahoochee River Tubing in Duluth. Manager Ellen Truxell said the family has been providing safe, fun and unforgettable outdoor adventures and experiences since 2009.

River Ridge soccer standout Nolan McLure finished his high school career on top, winning back-to-back GHSA state championships and earning the Gatorade Player of the Year award as a senior. McLure, who registered 19 goals and 10 assists in 2025, led the Knights (19-1) to a 3-2 state title win over Sprayberry in PKs, which was not just its second straight title, but its second straight over the Yellow Jackets. It was even more rewarding the second time around.
