A Woodstock woman was killed in a crash Tuesday after her car collided with an ambulance, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office reports. According to the sheriff’s office, preliminary indications show a car, driven by Jennifer Brennan, 56 of Woodstock, on Arnold Mill Road left its lane and struck a private ambulance that was traveling the opposite direction head-on, at about 4:09 p.m. Tuesday near Mountain Road. Brennan died at the scene, CSO reported.

Candidates will sign up next week to officially run for office in the Georgia Senate District 21 race. The seat was vacated by former state Sen. Brandon Beach, who resigned from his post after he was appointed U.S. treasurer by President Donald Trump. The Georgia Senate’s District 21 represents portions of Cherokee and north Fulton counties. Qualifying to run for the seat will be June 2-4, the Georgia Secretary of State’s office announced.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced a $24 million award for a bridge replacement project on Bells Ferry Road in Cherokee County. The project will build a 0.767-mile bridge and its approaches on Bells Ferry Road over Little River, replacing the existing two-lane bridge with a wider two-lane bridge. The contract was awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc., the low bidder.
