Cherokee County is selling 22.3 acres that officials say is of no use to the county to the owner of a nearby property. On May 6, the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a real estate sales agreement to sell a 22.3-acre county-owned parcel on Blalock Road near Holly Springs for $290,000. The 22.3-acre property sits behind the Cherokee County Recycling Center and south of the Badger Creek Soccer Complex in wetland area.

Circle of Friends is closing its Circuit Café in Woodstock after its owners said they want to place more focus on their Hickory Flat location. The Circuit Café's last day is May 15. Founders Diane and Glenn Keen said in a newsletter that the decision is filled with "a mix of gratitude, a touch of sadness and genuine celebration for a space that means so much to us."Diane Keen, who serves as executive director, told the Tribune Monday that it was time to close the Woodstock location.

On May 6, the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to approve a $680,499 amendment to an agreement with Thomas and Hutton to prepare preliminary engineering plans and right-of-way plans for the Bells Ferry Road Multi-Use Trail project.

Crimes against persons in Canton were up in 2024 from the previous year but remained low overall, with no homicides reported, the Canton Police Department said in its annual report. Crime Analyst Alec Robles presented the department’s 2024 Operational Report to the city council May 1. In 2024, Canton PD responded to 31,490 calls for service, a 16% increase from 2023. The department saw a 31.6% increase in calls for service between 2019 and 2024, according to the report.
