A Clare motorist failed an early-morning roadside breath test after they were stopped at a joint garda/customs checkpoint in Crusheen. Highlighting the detection on social media, gardai say the motorist had been drinking the night before but that the level of alcohol in their system was still above the legal limit the following day. Following the official opening of the Brian Boru Bridge, linking Killaloe and Ballina, locals have spoken out to express their disappointment in being excluded from the ceremony. For the duration of the event, locals were blocked from entering the bridge by barricades and gardaí at either side. Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix went into lockdown following reports of a male in the area, who has allegedly shared threats online. The school has confirmed that they posted a message to all parents labeled 'precaution' to the Aladdin App:"Dear Parent/Guardian, we are aware of rumours circulating in Abbeyleix this morning. Please be reassured that we are doing everything in our power to keep the children and staff safe.
