Police identify victims of murder-suicide

Clinton police have identified two people found dead inside a residence on Pershing Boulevard last week. According to a news release, the Clinton Police and Fire Departments had found two people dead when responding at 12:30 p.m. Friday to the 900 block of Pershing Boulevard to conduct a welfare check. On Monday, the Clinton Police Department identified the two people as Shelly Ann Leab, 52, and Brian Keith Witherspoon, 57.

Chicago man charged in 2024 overdose death of Clinton woman

A Chicago man is in custody in connection with the May 2024 fentanyl-related death of a 44-year-old Clinton woman. Revelle T. Horne, 33, is charged with three counts of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, a Class C felony which in the State of Iowa is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $1,370-$13,660.

(AP) — A Wisconsin Elections Commission discussion of uncounted ballots in Madison devolved into a shouting match Thursday, with the Democratic chair threatening to kick a Republican commissioner out of the meeting. DEAR DR. ROACH: My husband had left knee replacement surgery three weeks ago. He has had continuous unrelenting pain since. He was initially on hydrocodone with acetaminophen alternating with tramadol. This barely touched the pain. We were referred to a pain specialist who prescribed hydrocodone, but our insurance wouldn’t allow it. He is also on gabapentin and baclofen. The doctor took an X-ray, and said all looked normal. My husband spiked a fever of 103 five days after surgery but nothing since.

FULTON, Ill. - The Fulton baseball and softball teams welcomed the Mercer County Eagles to Drives Park on Wednesday for a doubleheader. It was the Golden Eagles baseball team who jumped all over Fulton early in this one, taking a 7-0 lead after two innings. A fielders choice scored the Steamers first run of the game in the bottom of the second but Mercer County got their run right back in the top of the third to make it 8-1.
