    A 19-year-old Waupun man died Thursday after his car struck a semi-truck that was attempting to cross Highway 49 at Dairy Road in the town of Leroy. Dodge County deputies were dispatched to the two-vehicle crash that occurred about 6:30 a.m. about 2½  miles west of the village of Brownsville, Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a statement. The initial investigation showed that the semi was northbound on Dairy Road and crossing Highway 49 after stopping at the stop sign, Schmidt said.

    A 50-year-old Wisconsin inmate was sentenced to serving an additional 20 years in prison on Wednesday after being found guilty of attempted homicide of both a former cell mate at Waupun Correctional and a Dodge County Correctional Officer on two separate occasions. William Lasalle, who is housed in Columbia County Correctional, entered a no contest plea to a charge of intentionally attempted homicide and aggravated battery.
