The Beaufort Port Royal Fire Department announced Friday that they have an ISO Class 1 rating, the highest rating possible. This distinction places the department among the top fire protection services in the nation. According to the most recent data, only 500 fire departments in the U.S. have an ISO 1 rating and only 17 departments in South Carolina.
