Photo by Alex Slitz/Getty Images According to our friends at Maize N Brew, who picked this up from Jon Rothstein, Duke and Michigan will play in Washington, D.C. in February. Details like time, TV and venue are still to be determined. We like this a lot. As you know, under both Mike Krzyzewski and Jon Scheyer, Duke has traditionally stepped out of conference in February to see a different style of basketball and Dusty May’s Wolverines should provide that.

Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images Barring anything unforeseen, we have a pretty good idea of who will be back next season for Duke. And unlike last season, when virtually everyone left, with only Caleb Foster and Tyrese Proctor returning, five players return, and all of them have at least a year’s experience in Jon Scheyer’s system. So what are we looking at? Well, this team has big guards again. Isaiah Evans and Caleb Foster are 6-6 and 6-5 respectively. Freshman Cayden Boozer is also 6-5.

He’s capable of scoring, of course, including threes, but what really made him unusual were his other skills, and especially on defense. He is hugely disruptive with a particular brilliance for getting into passing lanes and popping balls loose face-to-face with defenders.

Take the concept of positionless basketball.

Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images The college transfer portal closed Tuesday night at midnight and unless something hasn’t been disclosed, the only Blue Devil who entered was walk-on Stanley Borden, who should get a chance to actually play in his final season, depending on where he ends up. The best news? Isaiah Evans announced that he’ll be back in blue next season. That’s great news for Duke.
