Plans for four new homes in Takeley submitted by an Essex councillor were thrown out due to concerns about "harm" to Grade II-listed buildings. Uttlesford District Council is concerned about the proposals made by Richard Haynes, Residents for Uttlesford councillor for Thaxted and The Eastons, for land off Smiths Green, Takeley, in north Essex. The council decided on the plans at a meeting on Wednesday, April 9. The site is part of the recently adopted Smith’s Green conservation area.

Little Canfield plans (Image: Rosie Trembath) A new "lively and inclusive" leisure centre with a pool, nursery, soft play area and cafe could be built in a north Essex town. The plans also include "versatile" learning spaces at the site off Stortford Road, Little Canfield – near Stansted Airport. The development would also see 68 parking spaces, four disabled and four electric vehicle spaces. The site is surrounded by farmland and developments with commercial and other businesses.

Plans for 100 new homes are threatening to “destroy” an Essex forest. Developer Bellway is planning to build the homes and a preschool in two phases off Station Road, in Takeley. The first phase will see 68 properties built and the second 32; for a total of 106 new homes, 40 per cent of which will be affordable.

Event - Rodings Friendship Club Members (Image: Rodings Friendship Club) The Rodings Friendship Club raised more than £200 at their March gathering. The event, held at Leaden Roding Village Hall, saw more than 60 members entertained by nine members of the Bishop's Stortford Ukulele Society. Attendees were given song sheets to sing along with the early pop songs, including hits from the Beatles and Elton John.
