Established on April 14, 1869, the Herald-Banner holds the title of the longest-running business in Hunt County. Originally named the Greenville Herald and created by John C. Bayne, the publication underwent a significant change nearly a hundred years later when it combined with the Greenville Evening Banner, adopting the name Greenville Herald-Banner.

Former Greenville Lion Kamron Neal accomplished his first goal at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Neal, who is a sophomore at Panhandle State, advanced out of the preliminaries in the men’s 200-meter dash on Wednesday at the national championships in Marion, Indiana. Neal clocked a time of 20.88 seconds to finish second in the first preliminary heat and advance to the finals. Neal was one of nine qualifiers for the finals in the 200.

On Thursday, the Greenville Police Department released a summary of its level of activity for the April, showing a marked increase in the number of traffic stops and arrests when compared to the numbers from January.
