Hunt Regional announces layoffs in face of financial issues

Just two weeks after staging a public open house for the new Hunt Regional Medical Center Royse City and a month after the Hunt Memorial Hospital District successfully brought a $29 million bond before voters, management has begun tightening its financial belt. In an email sent to staff at the hospital, CEO Lee Boles spoke of the difficulties Hunt Regional is experiencing. Hospital officials on Friday released a follow-up statement to the initial email.

The Rockwall Art League has officially opened a call for entries for its 25th annual Juried Fine Art Show and Sale scheduled to take place Sept. 12–14. Artists working in a variety of mediums – including oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing/digital art, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and mosaic – are invited to submit their work for consideration. Rockwall ISD names facility after former principal and veteran

Rockwall ISD trustees last week approved the naming of the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps area at the Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy in honor of former Rockwall High School principal and veteran James Randolph Jr.The decision follows a recommendation from the RISD board’s facility naming committee, which reviewed community-submitted nominations.

City of Heath welcomes new city manager/CEO Steven Alexander

HEATH – City officials on Friday announced the hiring of Steven Alexander as the new city manager and chief executive officer for Heath. Alexander comes to Heath from the Highland Park where he served for the last 11-plus years, most recently as assistant town administrator. He was first hired at Highland Park in 2013 as the town’s finance director.
