2025 Chevy Silverado EV gets longer battery tange, lower prices

Chevrolet is rolling out new trims, lower prices and longer battery ranges on its 2025 Silverado EV. The first Chevy electric pickups were launched for model year 2024 with a top range of 450 miles. The 2025 model goes even farther, with a top range of 492 miles on the Work Truck version with Max Range. But that extra range will cost you, with a starting MSRP of $78,000. Last year's WT trims ranged from $73,000 to $78,000 starting MSRP.
XL Specialized Trailers unveils the Knight 80 MFG lowboy trailer

XL Specialized Trailers has launched the XL Knight 80 MFG, an updated and improved mechanical, full-width gooseneck trailer design. Rated at 70,000 pounds in 16 feet concentrated, the 48-foot-long detachable gooseneck lowboy has an overall capacity of 80,000 pounds. The trailer offers 29 feet of main deck loading space and a loaded deck height of 18 inches.
Palfinger releases new mechanics truck, service crane

Two new products, the PAL Pro 58 mechanicâ€™s truck and PSC 8600 TEC service crane, were recently unveiled by Palfinger. Optimized for Class 5 chassis applications, Palfinger says, the PAL Pro 58 and PSC 8600 TEC service crane are engineered to for extended reach, lighter weight, and improved performance. The PAL Pro 58 is manufactured with 12-gauge all A-60 galvanneal steel and a hybrid torsion box.

Ford is recalling the color preference of their iconic founder Henry Ford with a new matte black F-150 Lightning Platinum Black edition. “The Ford F-150 Lightning team heard you, Henry,” Ford states in a press release offering details on the all-electric pickup including a hefty price tag bordering on six figures. Not so sure Henry would have been keen on that given his reputation and monumental success for having produced affordable cars for the masses including the incredibly successful Model T.

Hurricane Idalia made landfall Wednesday morning as a powerful Category 3 hurricane roughly 30 miles southeast of Tallahassee leading to the closure of one of the nationâ€™s busiest ports along with roads and highways. The National Hurricane Centerâ€™s latest track shows the storm traveling north-northeast at 18 mph into southeast Georgia towards the Port of Savannah which shut down late Tuesday.

The king is tossing his crown. Jeep is pulling the plug on EcoDiesel which means it will no longer be the dominant leader in torque among midsize pickups. That can mean different things to different people depending on what youâ€™re looking for. Having less torque essentially means having less power off the line. Once king of the mountain with 442 lb.-ft. torque, Gladiator will fall hard to 260 lb.-ft. with its 3.6-liter Pentastar V6.
GMC, Chevy trucks recalled for steering failure

Chevy and GMC are recalling roughly 4,000 heavy-duty trucks over a steering defect that could result in a crash. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a steering arm in certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 could disconnect and result in a total loss of steering and lead to collision. Dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear if necessary free of charge. The parts needed to complete the required repair are not yet available.
'Unprecedented' price surge plus higher mileage for used vehicles

Finding a used pickup or car with low miles at a decent price is a long shot as used vehicle values along with their odometers get hit with historic increases. The average price for a used car has soared 47.7% since the pandemic with the Ram 1500 topping a list of best-selling used cars compiled by iSeeCars. A used half-ton Ram had an average price of $27,324 in 2019. It’s now reached $42,881, a 56.9% jump. Four other pickups made the list of 23 vehicles.
States sue EPA over ethanol delay

An ongoing push to expand sales of E15 has prompted two states to sue the EPA and now has the American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) asking U.S. President Joe Biden to intervene and expedite the approval of E15 year-round in eight states which they say can cut costs at the pump, clean up the air, fight climate change and increase energy independence.
