FARGO – The North Dakota High School Coaches Association recently announced its Class B softball all-state team. Theall-state squad included two recent senior standouts from Hillsboro-Central Valley and MayPort-CG. The team, which had 20 members this year, included H-CV’s Peyton Quam, who was named NDHSCA’s softball senior athlete of the year, as well as MPCG’s Parker Strand.

City leaders in Hillsboro plan to install surveillance cameras near the Woodland Park pool after graffiti recently was found inside the public swimming pool’s fenced area. Hillsboro City Commission President Levi Reese said the individuals responsible for the graffiti entered the locked facility without permission, creating a liability concern for the city.

With ideal weather in the forecast, Mayville and Portland fun-seekers should be out in full force next week. The MayPort Community Club’s annual Summerfest kicks off Wednesday with a full slate of activities for all ages, ranging from free food to parades and dances across the two communities. “It is nice to have a few new events going on during the busy week to help ensure everyone gets to enjoy all the community has to offer,” said Ashley Freehauf, president of the MayPort Community Club.

WEST FARGO – Pat Lipsiea and Gabby Metzger’s histories and roles in the restaurant industry may be longer and more complex than the menu at their new restaurant. Lipsiea, who grew up in Mayville and boasts ties to its iconic Paula’s Cafe, and Metzger are opening Ziti’s Italian American restaurant at 3150 Sheyenne St. in West Fargo later this month.

This year’s Traill County 4-H Achievement Day will feature more than 320 static and livestock exhibits as well as the debut of the “Barnyard Olympics.”Traill County Extension agent Jill Murphy said local 4-H clubs have been gearing up for this year’s Achievement Day on June 20 in Hillsboro for months. And while the 4-H showcase include many of the staples of Achievement Days from previous years, this year’s Achievement Day will offer a series of Olympic-style, farm-focused athletic events.
