ZANESVILLE ‒ Several dozen children took to the meadow around Kidzville Playground for an Easter egg hunt on April 16, looking for one of the rare golden eggs. Transitions in Zanesville hosted one of the many Easter egg hunts this spring and helped around 50 participants find more than 300 eggs at the Riverside Park playground. ZANESVILLE ‒ A Zanesville man who plead guilty in February to two counts after strangling and assaulting a woman was back in court for his sentencing. Jesse James Beach, 29, was handed a prison sentence of at least 10 years and up to 13.5 for burglary, a second-degree felony, and strangulation, a third-degree felony. He received three years for strangulation and seven to 10.5 for burglary. The sentences will run consecutively.

DUNCAN FALLS ‒ Three Muskingum County fire departments responded to fire in Duncan Falls on April 16, in which a building and numerous vehicles inside were destroyed. The Wayne, Harrison and Washington township fire departments reported to 3775 Cornerstone Lane at about 3:40 p.m. after billowing smoke rose up on the horizon. The residence is owned by Roger Chapman.

ZANESVILLE ‒ A Zanesville man who helped his wife hide his father's dead body has entered his own guilty pleas in Muskingum County Common Plea Court. David Ralph Cole Jr., 44, pleaded guilty to five counts: tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, and endangering children, all third-degree felonies, and gross abuse of a corpse and possessing criminal tools, fifth-degree felonies. If given consecutive max sentences, Cole could be facing 11 years in prison.
