Though the case occurred outside the FOX23 viewing area, public health officials in nearby regions are reminding residents of the seriousness of the disease. The Perry County Health Department has health officials that are advising caution and preventive measures.

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) - Horses and riders gathered this weekend at Flickerwood Arena in Jackson not just for a barrel race, but to show support for a beloved trainer facing the fight of her life. Marne Loosenort, a well-known barrel horse trainer, was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer nearly four weeks ago. Now, her family, friends, and sponsors are coming together to do what she loves most-barrel race-in her honor.

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) - A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the construction of the new Scott County Justice Center was held on Friday May 2, 2025. City leaders and community members came out welcome the new construction. The new and improved Justice Center will have more space with additional court rooms, upgraded facilities and offices for both employees and the community. A half cent tax was passed in Scott County to cover funding for the new Justice Center.

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI) - A house fire in Scott City has claimed the lives of a mother and her young son, leaving the close-knit community in mourning. The victims have been identified as Paige St. John and her son, Daxton. Friends and neighbors are grieving the tragic loss, including Shyla Bozarth, a close friend of Paige's. "We live two or three blocks from her house," Bozarth said. "I drove by to pick up my oldest son, and there was smoke everywhere. I could tell it was coming from that direction.
