FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary May 2025 unemployment rate was five percent, according to figures released Friday by the Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS), an agency within the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet. The preliminary May 2025 jobless rate was down 0.2 percentage points from April 2025 and up 0.1 percentage points from one year ago.

(KT) – If you have visited the State Capitol in Frankfort the last couple of years, you may have noticed the scaffolding around the dome, which represents the first phase of an even larger renovation project which is getting ready to begin. In 2022, the General Assembly appropriated $260 million in bond funds to Phase 2 of the Capitol Campus Renovation. The ongoing multi-year, multi-million-dollar renovation project involves both the State Capitol and the Capitol Annex Building.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (KT) — Kentucky will play defending national champion Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt twice next season. The Southeastern Conference unveiled its men’s basketball league schedule on Wednesday, and the Wildcats will play each school in the league at least once this season. Kentucky will host Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Texas at Rupp Arena.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – To protect public safety and assess the repair of park infrastructure, the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet announced Wednesday that Nolin Lake State Park will remain closed, due to extensive flood damage and unsafe conditions following months of historic high-water levels. Due to flooding in April, water has not yet fully receded from many areas of the state park.
