With two events left to go, officials called the Baxter Bolt Invite due to weather. With the completed events, South Hardin finished behind the hosts with 104 points. The Tigers and the Bolts were the only teams out of the 10 in attendance to score over 100 points. SH had two champions and eight double scoring events. “Rough conditions tonight. With the wind, teams were just racing for placings at Baxter on Monday night. Despite having to call the meet following the 1500, South Hardin bested the 10 team field by 19.5 points over second place Ankeny Christian. The Tigers left with eight top three finishes out of the 17 events that were completed. “The wind wasn’t really going to allow for anything too great, we were just going for places,” said SH coach Zach Allison. Six earned gold, including two relays.

For almost as long as there’s been a chapter at the Elliott-Keninger American Legion Post in Ackley, the Sons of the American Legion have been helping the post and the community. This year marks the 20th since the chapter of the Sons chartered with around 20 members. Today there are 44 members, and the scope of their aide has grown through burger feeds and donations.

Nothing was easy Monday on the golf course with winds averaging around 23 miles per hour with gusts as high as 35 miles per hour. Golfers had to endure multiple elements including wind, rain and cold in the quad at Pine Lake. Grundy Center swept the boys results with the two lowest scores as well as the team title with a 156. BCLUW was 18 strokes behind the Spartans, followed by the hosts – South Hardin – who shot a 185. Gladbrook-Reinbeck was fourth.
