    Further details have been announced for the inaugural KOREfest and Localpalooza, a two-day festival presented by the Kootenay Outdoor Recreation Enterprise (KORE) in Kimberley's Platzl on June 28 and 29. This two-day event will showcase Kootenay-based outdoor gear makers and feature performances from 10 bands. Gear makers on site will include: Ghostrider Equipment, Northern Teardrop Trailer, Kootenay Mountain Boats, Shishka Sleeping Bags and many more.

    Summer is here and the Kimberley Public Library (KPL) has a ton of fantastic programming in store to keep kids entertained and engaged, including the Summer Reading Club. This club, geared towards children in kindergarten to Grade 7, is a free program that includes fun-filled activities, crafts, a magic show, a weekly scavenger hunt and reading prizes. The program is every Tuesday from July 8 to August 26.

    Kimberley skier Sawyer Popovitch has earned one of only five spots available for North American women skiers to compete in the Freeride Junior World Championships, which will be held in Kappl, Austria in January, 2026. "I was definitely excited when I found out that I am going to worlds, but January is a long way away, so it kind of feels a bit surreal," Popovitch said.
