There are simple things a hunter can do to prevent the spread of invasive species, by following the ‘Hunt Clean Go’ ethos. The presence of invasive species can have negative impacts on hunting and recreation, the Council says. Invasive species can altar habitats, reducing the availability of food and shelter for wildlife. They can disrupt food chains, affecting the health and behaviour of game species.

The Kimberley Indoor Tennis Courts, located at Selkirk Secondary School, have launched a community sponsorship program. Funds are being raised for upgrades to the heating system, court resurfacing and roof repairs. The first sponsor to step forward was Bootleg Gap Golf Course with a $750 donate. The indoor tennis courts were originally located at the Kimberley Ski Resort and in 2001 was sold. The KITC was relocated in 2005 to its present site on Selkirk Secondary School property.

Last March, a rezoning request for 331 Ritchie Street in Kimberley was brought forward to council. It requested a change from Commercial zone C-1 to Downtown-Mixed Use Zone DMU-2 to allow construction of up to three detached dwelling units that would be interchangeably used between residential and tourist accommodation use. At the time, council had some reservations and directed planning staff to work with the proponents to modify their project.
