The Cranbrook Bucks' playoff run ended with a four-game sweep at the hands of the Penticton Vees after a 5-2 loss in Game 4 on Thursday, April 24. Penticton will go to the BCHL Interior Conference final, where it will play the Brooks Bandits. The Herd battled to the end, but the Vees were inevitable as they took the lead in Game 4 and didn't trail on the scoreboard for the entirety of the contest.

THe Forest Practices Board found compliance with forestry legislation during an audit of Canadian Forest Products Ltd. (Canfor) Forest Licence A19040 in the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District. However, audit also singled out a fire-hazard abatement issue, while also highlighting a a notable practice to model future impacts of forest diseases. "The way Canfor managed its forest operations was very well done, given its size and complexity," said Gerry Grant, vice-chair of the board.

Four Cranbrook firefighters were quick to respond to a reported tent fire on the edge of city limits on Wednesday, April 23. Arriving on the scene just after 7 p.m., firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented the flames from spreading beyond the immediate area. Fire response also included one fire engine and one bush truck, while the fire itself was located on private land adjacent to Moir Park.
