Leavenworth Times

Leavenworth Times

The Leavenworth Times is a daily newspaper that serves the community of Leavenworth, Kansas. Owned by GateHouse Media, it was established in 1856 by Robert Crozier, who would later become a U.S. Senator. The Times proudly claims to be the oldest daily newspaper in the state of Kansas. In 1871, Daniel R. Anthony, the brother of the famous women's rights advocate Susan B. Anthony, acquired the publication. The Anthony family held ownership of the newspaper until the 1960s, despite a dramatic history that included Daniel Anthony being acquitted for the murder of rival publisher R.C. Satterlee in 1871, and then surviving an attack by rival editor William Embry of the Daily Appeal in 1875.
