    A few months ago, four women from the Weatherby Lake area who are concerned about recent government actions, decided to form a group called Winning Women Wednesdays (WWW) in order to let their elected officials know what they expect from them. The group quickly grew to include more than 120 women from the Platte County area. The group’s organizer, Lynn Roberts, said the group is concerned about the chaos of the current administration and how it will hurt the local community.

    The North Platte Historical Museum’s Steve Goodlet Memorial Lecture series hosted their second presentation called Educating Our Daughters, Camden Point Female Academy and Orphan School recently at the Camden Point Firehouse. The North Platte Historical Museum and Cultural Center sponsored this program in partnership with the Missouri Humanities Council and with support from the Missouri Humanities Trust Fund.

    Platte County High School juniors, Kylie Kinzey and Rayan Abdikarim were recently chosen for the 2025 Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program. Through the program, students are guided with the goal of gaining valuable leadership skills that they will hone in their remaining high school years and beyond. Students acquire knowledge and insight into business, legal, educational, political, and healthcare elements of the community.
