The Faulkner County Quorum Court on Tuesday heard the first reading of an ordinance to approve an application for a private club permit for a restaurant seeking to open in Mayflower. Justice of the Peace (JP) Samuel Strain sponsored the ordinance on behalf of the owners of Palarm Station, Inc., a restaurant planning to open at 941 Highway 365. Strain said the restaurant would like to serve alcoholic beverages to be able to compete with other restaurants in Conway and Maumelle.

The Conway Planning Commission at its regular meeting on Monday voted 8-0 to recommend the approval of a rezoning request for property near Conway Christian School. The property is located at 332 S. East German Lane and is currently zoned A-1. While the College World Series experience may be over for former Conway Wampus Cat and Batesville Pioneer Conner Cunningham, he did get a shout out from his Batesville brethren after Murray State’s 3-0 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks on Monday in Omaha, Neb. Cunningham, a true freshman for the Racers, was the only Murray State player to work the count to 3-2 versus Arkansas pitcher Gage Wood, who is also from Batesville. Wood threw a no-hitter, striking out 19 batters.
