Los Angeles Review of Books
The Los Angeles Review of Books is a nonprofit organization focused on literature and cultural arts. It blends the classic approach of book reviewing with modern online technology. Our community includes writers, critics, journalists, artists, filmmakers, and scholars who are passionate about sharing and promoting thoughtful and well-written content. We are committed to maintaining high standards of intellectual depth and the persuasive power of writing. Founded partly in response to the decline of traditional newspaper book reviews, the Los Angeles Review of Books aims to revive the art of engaging, intelligent long-form writing on a wide range of topics, from fiction and politics to architecture and young adult literature, as well as academic works and genre fiction. In a rapidly changing landscape of books and publishing, we provide curated, expert opinions from some of the most talented writers and thinkers today, striving to reinvent the book review for a contemporary audience. LARB publishes new content daily online and releases a print edition every quarter, known as the LARB Quarterly Journal. Additionally, we have a selection of independent sister publications, the LARB Channels, that explore various genres including sports, philosophy, plant thinking, and experimental literature.
