The Newcastle Knights have secured a promising international talent, signing Canadian Marcus D’Acre after he impressed at the NRL’s Las Vegas combine earlier this year. The 20-year-old Hong Kong born combine winner arrived in Newcastle on Tuesday to begin his journey on the pathways system. D’Acre has signed with the Knights through the end of 2026 and will begin his rugby league development in the Jersey Flegg Cup, the under-21 competition.

Wigan Warriors star Abbas Miski has undergone surgery on his knee – ruling him out of action for at least the next two months. Miski will miss the next eight weeks after finally going under the knife following a knee issue that has plagued him for a prolonged period. The Warriors did initially look at surgery earlier in the season but it cannot be put off any longer. That has left Matt Peet without a key outside back for a lengthy period.

Canberra Raiders forward Matty Nicholson’s promising debut NRL season has suffered a major setback, with the English recruit ruled out for up to 12 weeks following a serious leg injury sustained in the Raiders’ round 10 loss to the Canterbury Bulldogs. The 21-year-old second-rower, who has quickly made a name for himself in the Raiders’ pack, fractured his fibula and suffered a syndesmosis injury to his ankle late in the match.

The publicly drawn out saga surrounding Brandon Smith has finally come to an end, with the Sydney Roosters officially granting the injured hooker an immediate release to join bitter rivals, the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Smith, who was originally set to join Souths in 2026 on a two-year deal, will instead make the switch mid-season after passing a medical on Monday.
