The 2025 Wawa Welcome America Festival is back for 16 days filled with fun events and will cap off with a certified Hall-of-Famer on the stage. LL Cool J, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, is the headliner for the July 4 concert and fireworks on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. He will be joined by Philadelphia native Jazmine Sullivan.

The junior shortstop, a first team All-Inter-Ac and All-Main Line selection as a sophomore, has a career batting average of .619 (as of May 10) with 101 hits, 96 runs scored, 86 RBIs and 22 home runs. Santinelli, who has committed to playing softball for Syracuse University, is involved in a number of activities at EA. She is a member of EA’s varsity swim team, as well as the Community Service Executive Board, Med-Scholars Club and Girls in STEM Club.

Lilian Wang, a junior at Episcopal Academy, recently earned first place in the regional round of PJAS (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science) with her topic of Tangent Lines and Their Intersections on Elliptic Curves. She also competes on the Upper School robotics team, and is a competitive chess player and spends weekends at U.S. and international tournaments. Wang participated in the summer Lilley independent study program, and explored the norms of composition operators on linear functions.

Buddy Kennedy hit a two-run home run and Gabriel Rincones broke out of a 9-for-44 funk with three hits to lead the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to a 5-2 victory Saturday night in front of their third capacity sellout of the year at Coca-Cola Park. Mick Abel (5-2) pitched seven innings for the second time in his last four starts. He allowed only one earned run for the fourth consecutive start. The right-hander allowed three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts on 96 pitches (61 strikes).

Both Straka and Lowry birdied the 17th hole, a 498 yard par 4 that is considered one of the most difficult holes on the course. On the tough final six holes Saturday, Straka was 2-under-par, Lowry 1-under par.
Plans to update Villanova's Connelly Center moving forward

RADNOR — Villanova’s plans to renovate and revitalize the Connelly Center, a student hub and gathering space on campus for over four decades, are moving forward through Radnor Township’s approval process and with a major donation from its namesake organization. Recently, the Connelly Foundation announced they were making a donation of $10 million toward the renovation cost, which brings the Connelly Foundation’s total giving to Villanova to more than $44 million.

WHITEMARSH – Following a perfect weather day for Thursday’s opening round, in which 10 golfers in the 72-man field broke the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course record of 65, only one golfer shot 65 or better in Friday’s wet conditions at the Truist Championship. Keith Mitchell, who fired a 61 on Thursday to take the first-round lead, followed it up Friday with a solid 3-under-par 67 to keep the second-round lead at 12-under.
