The Gazette, originally known as The Maryland Gazette when it was established in 1727, stands as one of the longest-running newspapers in the United States. In 2014, it became part of The Baltimore Sun Media Group. Before this acquisition, it was owned by Capital Gazette Communications, the company behind several publications including The Capital, Bowie Blade-News, Crofton-West County Gazette, and Capital Style Magazine.
