THREE RIVERS – Mineral King Road is expected to reopen May 21, reconnecting Sequoia National Park visitors to Mineral King Valley’s famed wilderness trails and campgrounds. For those unfamiliar with the area, Mineral King is a subalpine glacial valley located in the southern part of Sequoia National Park. The valley lies at the headwaters of the East Fork of the Kaweah River. The dramatic landscape of the area has been compared to Switzerland.

SELMA – Following the termination of Selma’s former city manager, Fernando Santillan, the city council is moving forward with replacing him with a familiar face — at least in the interim. By a 4-1 vote, the Selma City Council appointed John Kunkel as interim city manager on May 6; Councilmember John Trujillo voted against the appointment.
