Both agencies released statements Friday, June 6 after a Kalamazoo area man, Zach Lassiter, posted spreadsheet audits on social media of alleged police searches to the Flock database. Flock provides license-reader camera systems to police agencies nationwide.

National Gun Violence Awareness day is Friday, June 6 this year, marking the beginning of Wear Orange Weekend, an annual gun safety awareness campaign. The Blue Bridge will be illuminated with bright orange lights through dusk on Sunday, June 8, in coordination with the movement, according to a news release from Wear Orange.

PONTIAC, MI - A mass shooting has been prevented at a high school graduation in Metro Detroit, and one suspect remains on the loose. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says it has made one arrest as it searches for 20-year-old Jamarion Jaryante Hardiman. It all started on the evening of Tuesday, June 3 during the graduation ceremony for The Arts and Technology Academy in Pontiac. The ceremony took place at United Wholesale Mortgage.

WYOMING, MI – A shuttered Walgreens on 28th Street across from the popular Beltline Bar restaurant is being turned into a supermarket where customers can shop for fresh produce, meats and baked goods. A new Rodriguez Supermarket is being built at 2829 Division Ave. S in Wyoming, city records show. The store’s owners have not yet announced plans for the new location, but the city of Wyoming approved the site plans for the project in October 2024.
