The team of editors and reporters is dedicated to delivering top-notch coverage of news related to the campus and the surrounding community, serving not only Cal Poly's faculty, staff, and students but also the residents of San Luis Obispo.

    Eight days into her tenure as a Cal Poly swim and dive captain, Jen Reiter walked into Fisher Science Building’s lecture hall fearing the worst. All 57 teammates filed in just a few minutes before 7:30 a.m., awaiting Cal Poly Athletic Director Don Oberhelman. Less than 24 hours earlier, the team was notified via email that their morning practice would be canceled. There was no warning or explanation. On a normal morning, they would have been in the waters of the Anderson Aquatic Center.

    Cal Poly Beach Volleyball had their nation-best 18-match win streak snapped against No. 11 Long Beach State before bouncing back against No. 17 Hawai’i at the Best of the West tournament in Laguna Beach, Calif. on Sunday, April 6. The Mustangs (21-3) dropped a close 3-2 final against the Beach (18-10) but managed to end the tournament on a high note with a 4-1 win over the Rainbow Wahine (12-15).

    A strong day of doubles play wasn’t enough as Cal Poly Men’s tennis took their second Big West loss at home against No. 45 UC Irvine, 4-1. The Mustangs (7-11, 1-2 Big West) took an early lead against the highly ranked Anteaters (13-4, 3-0 Big West), who sport an undefeated conference record and one of two national rankings in the Big West. Cal Poly earned the doubles point early on before falling in four singles matches to finish out the day.

    On day one of the Best of the West tournament, Cal Poly Beach Volleyball proved they deserve a shot to earn that title, toppling No. 2 UCLA for the first time in program history in a stunning 3-2 statement win on Friday, April 4. The No. 6 ranked Mustangs (18-2) started the two-match day at Laguna Beach by beating No. 19 University of Washington 4-1 before taking down the Bruins for a perfect start to the weekend.

    Zeth Romney was named the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Year, according to a postseason awards release by the Pac-12, making him the second wrestler in program history to win the prestigious honor. The recognition comes not long after he finished third at 133-pounds in the NCAA Championships, the highest finish by any 133-pound wrestler in program history.
