    Stephen Morris surprised Tambascio’s Italian Grill owner John Tambascio on April 16 with a painting featuring the Dodgingtown Road restaurant. The painting, “The Dance at the Folies-Bergère,” is only one of Morris’ many paintings that will be featured in his upcoming exhibition at Edmond Town Hall. The exhibition is free to the public and will be on display from 11 am-5 pm, Friday through Sunday, April 25-27, in the Alexandria Room of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street.

    One week before Jews around the world began their annual festival to celebrate the exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, nearly 40 people gathered in The Great Room of Newtown Congregational Church for a Seder presented by Newtown Interfaith Council (NIC). Guests of all ages, ranging from a table of young adults to tables of adults and senior citizens, listened and joined local leaders of faith while they explained and then observed the steps of a Seder during the April 6 event.

    Voters will have the opportunity to cast judgment upon not only the fates of the proposed 2025-26 municipal and education budgets, but also five capital projects, during polling hours from 6 am to 8 pm, Tuesday, April 22, at Newtown Middle School. This year’s proposed budget is $49,866,665 for the town and $91,744,644 for the schools, for an overall bottom line of $141,611,309. The budgets include a 6.72% tax increase, as well as a 28.78 mill rate, a 1.81 increase from last year.

    A Bethel man was arrested on three charges early Saturday morning after he crashed his vehicle into another vehicle while traveling in the wrong direction on I-84 in Newtown. It was the latest wrong way crash in Connecticut, where similar crashes have been growing exponentially in recent years. Connecticut State Police responded to I-84 West between Exits 10 and 11 around 2 am April 12 after being alerted to a crash in that area.
